Incorporated under act of 25th July 1864. Power was given by sections 61 &c for London & North Western Railway Company to subscribed to undertaking and appoint Directors. Section 74 authorised Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway Company to become joint owners of Lancashire Union Railways Company on certain conditions. Under London & North Western Railway (New Railways) Act 16th July 1883, Lancashire Union Railways Company was vested in London & North Western Railway Company as from 1st July 1883.

London & North Western Railway Company was vested in London Midland & Scottish Railway Company under North Western, Midland & West Scottish Group Amalgamation Scheme 1922 dated 30th December 1922.
