Folio(s) 82A-82B. Letter from Job Brough, Newark, Clerk of the Peace for Nottinghamshire, requesting that the case of Peter Alvey be laid before the King and seeking an order for his discharge from imprisonment for good behaviour, as the general quarter sessions had no power to release him. On 12 April 1790, Alvey had been sentenced to 2 years' imprisonment in the house of correction at Southwell for running away and leaving his wife as a charge to the parish of Woodborough. Endorsed: 'Pardon as recommended'. |
