Folio(s) 33-34. Account [an enclosure in folios 65A-65B] from Duncan Campbell of the expense of keeping convicts sentenced to be transported to Africa, America, New South Wales or 'beyond the seas' on the hulk Lion in Portsmouth Harbour [Hampshire] from 12 October 1790 to 31 December 1790. Account includes the hire of a vessel and maintenance costs at 11d per convict per day, with a deduction for one convict having died and one convict having been pardoned. Campbell states that there were 272 convicts on board on 31 December 1790. |
