The Briton Ferry Dock and Railway Company (Briton Ferry Floating Dock Company) was incorporated by the Briton Ferry Dock & Railway Act of 3rd July 1851. This act also formed the Briton Ferry Floating Dock Company.

The company was transferred to the Great Western Railway Company by the Great Western Railway Company Act 21st July 1873 and the Briton Ferry Transfer Act 20th July 1873.
