The Brighton and Chichester Railway Company was incorporated under the Brighton and Chichester Railway Act of 1844. This act gave powers under sections 323 and 324 to lease or sell the company to London & Brighton Railway Company. These powers were continued under an act of 1845. In the following year, the London & Brighton Railway Company purchased Brighton & Chichester Railway Company with all its rights, powers and privileges and the Brighton & Chichester Railway Company was dissolved. Section 5 of the Act provided that the company "shall be well and effectually vested in London Brighton & South Coast Railway". |
