Folios 17-20. Memorandum from Sir Sampson Wright, Bow Street [magistrate], stating that Mr Montagu, mentioned in the enclosure, was a Master in Chancery. Enclosed is a memorandum to Wright from the Reverend [Francis Humphreys], curate of Hampstead [Middlesex], describing the erection by John Frith in Hampstead churchyard of a strange memorial to a brother killed in the East Indies. Appended is a note from [Edward Montagu] adding that he had inspected one of Frith's manuscripts that proved his insanity. |
