William WAINWRIGHT, alias Harold William ELLENBURGH / Molly WAINWRIGHT, alias Mary Jane ELLENBURGH nee McCullough: British. Bill WAINWRIGHT joined the British Communist Party in 1931 and rose to become a member of its National Executive Committee and Political Committee. In 1959 he moved from the post of Assistant General Secretary to become Assistant Editor of the 'Daily Worker'. He had also held posts in the Communist dominated British-Soviet Friendly Society and British Peace Committee. His wife, Molly, was also a long-time Party member and an employee of the Society for Cultural Relations with the USSR |
