Maurice FERGUSON, alias FAGELSON, Jack HALL. A Communist, FERGUSON and his wife Lily (nee WEBB) were both active Communist Party of Great Britain (CPGB) members and organisers, predominantly in the North of England, in the 1920s and 1930s. He first came to notice as official organiser of the Manchester District in 1925; attended the Lenin School in Moscow (where he used the alias HALL and his wife worked for the COMINTERN) in 1929-1930; and subsequently held 'official' posts in Birmingham and Bradford. In 1931 he was said to be a member of the Central Executive of the CPGB, and he was associated with the Control Commission and the clandestine wing of the Party. In later years he was simply a CPGB member, his health being poor |
