Description:

Hitler Jugend, Hitler Youth. Investigation of activities of the Hitler Jugend (HJ) in the UK in the years leading up to the Second World War, in particular bicycling tours by parties of HJ. The danger of reconnaissance activity was recognised, though initially on the basis of an exaggerated newspaper report about 'spyclists'. There was on the German side a wish for closer links with the Boy Scout Association. The file contains copies of the HJ's 'Wille und Macht' and intercepted correspondence

Note: Serial 134c: admission by newspaper editor that its report of an article in a German cycling magazine had been distorted to make a good story
