This dataset consists of seven tables relating to the Ancient Woodland Inventory (AWI) which were extracted by English Nature from the ENSIS information system in 2001-2002. The three main tables - AWISITE, AWITNR and AWISTRV - were extracted on 3 October 2001.
Each table except for SITE has two fields, CREATED and MODIFIED, whose functions appear to be to record when a record was originally created and last modified, respectively. The data in these fields suggests that records in AWISITE, AWITNR, AWISTRV, TEAM, NATAREA and COUNTY were originally created between 1995 and 2002 and were last modified between 1995 and 2002. However, as data gathering for the AWI began in 1981, it is likely that most of the data in AWISITE, AWITNR and AWISTRV was originally created well before the dates recorded in CREATED. Most of the records in these tables have the value '01-APR-97' in CREATED, suggesting that this is a default date arising from the migration of the AWI database from CORDATA to ENSIS. The structure of the seven tables is thought to reflect the structure established following the migration from CORDATA to ENSIS in 1995-1996. |
