| Description: | This dataset provides information relating to journeys made and vehicles used by heavy goods hauliers in the course of their work in 1985 as recorded by the Continuing Survey of Road Goods Transport. Details relating to journeys include journey type i.e. whether it was a single or a multistop journey (comprising of 1 to 4 stops) or whether it was a journey comprising of more than 4 stops. It includes information concerning when the journey took place, its origin, destination, type and weight of commodity, distance travelled while empty and loaded, length of haul and commodity class. Details relating to the vehicles include traffic area, year of registration, vehicle and trailer body type, whether it is a tipper, region of registered keeper, type of business, unladen weight of tractive unit and trailer; number of axles of tractive unit and trailer; public or own account haulier; annual mileage; average fuel consumption; wheelplan code, taxation class and reason for non-use. Also includes details regarding deliveries and collections. The dataset consists of four tables: JOURNEY (journey information), VEHICLE (vehicle information), MULTISTP (1 to 4 stop journeys), MULTITRP (multi stop journeys). |
