| Description: | This dataset consists of data gathered from nursery schools in England during the Schools' Census conducted by the Department of Education and Science in 1991. The enumeration date was the third Thursday in January (17 January 1991). Nursery schools were defined by the Department of Education and Science as schools which "provide[d] education primarily for children below compulsory school age, i.e. under 5". The dataset contains data on 568 schools, either Maintained nursery schools, or Nursery schools in receipt of direct grant. The dataset does not include data on privately run nursery schools. The dataset consists of a single table (scennu91) which contains one record per school. |
