Ferdinand Max CAHEN: German. Believed to have been a German agent under cover as a journalist in Copenhagen during the First World War, CAHEN was thought to be working also for Czechoslovakia on behalf of the Soviet Union and was described as someone who would sell his services to the highest bidder. He was later secretary to the German Foreign Minister of the Weimar Republic, Count Brockdorff-Rantzau. He spent World War II in the USA and his wife Eugenie and son Oscar left Germany as refugees and were interned in the UK and Canada respectively until 1942
