Description:

(1) Karl OLBRICHT, (2) Charlotte Emmy Herta OLBRICHT: (1) German, (2) German/British. A Communist from 1924, Karl OLBRICHT was Secretary of the party in Berlin from 1931 and a member of the Reichstag from 1932. He and his wife arrived in the UK from Czechoslovakia as refugees in 1939 and were interned in 1940 on the basis of what later appeared to be false information. Karl died in the sinking of the 'Arandora Star' in 1940 en route to Canada. Lotte OLBRICHT was also a Communist but may later have become a Trotskyist
