Description: | Security Service file on Count Helmuth James Von MOLTKE: German. A leading figure in the Kreisau Circle opposed to Hitler, Von MOLTKE was from an aristocratic Prussian military family but had a Scottish mother and was a member of the English Bar. He was legal advisor to the OKW and to the Abwehr but was also in correspondence during WW2 with three British friends, including the Oxford academics Lionel Curtis and Michael Balfour, correspondence which was monitored by the Security Service and is included in the file. He was executed by the Gestapo in 1945 after an allegation that he warned a Major KIEP that the latter was under suspicion.L 260-241 VOL 1 |
