Description:

Alonso Markham ELLIOTT, alias 'No 1': British. Queens' College Cambridge 1930-1933. Overtly associated with the Communist Party of Great Britain (CPGB). Served with the International Brigade in Spain. During the Second World War he was in the Intelligence Corps, and appeared in a 1941 diary recording intelligence contacts of the Russian spy Oliver Charles GREEN. GREEN denied ELLOITT had been his active agent, though he told the CPGB he 'was sort of priming him to get a job where he could be useful'
