Percy Eded GLADING, alias Edgar UPTON, Butch MORGAN, Percy COCHRANE, James BROWNLIE, Percy CLARK: British. GLADING, codename"GOTT", was a founder-member of the Communist Party of Great Britain (CPGB) and a key figure in Russian Intelligence exploitation of CPGB structures and personnel during the 1930's. In March 1938 GLADING, together with Albert WILLIAMS and George WHOMACK, who were employees at Woolwich Arsenal, pleaded guilty to charges under the Official Secrets Act arising from the copying of classified information from the Arsenal for the Russians. GLADING received six years' imprisonment |
