Albert Henry Edward WILLIAMS: British. WILLIAMS, who joined the Communist Party of Great Britain in 1922, was a co-defendant with Percy Eded GLADING in the"Woolwich Arsenal" case. In March 1938 GLADING, WILLIAMS and George WHOMACK pleaded guilty to Official Secrets Act charges stemming from the theft of classified information and equipment from Woolwich Arsenal for the Russians. WILLIAMS joined Woolwich Dockyard after military service during the First World War. In 1924 he transferred to the Royal Arsenal, and was still working there when arrested while handing over blueprints to GLADING on 21 January 1928. He was sentenced to three years' imprisonment |
