Editha Ilsa Hilda DARGEL: German. Miss DARGEL, a German-born amateur pilot living in Poole, was recruited by the Hamburg office of the German Intelligence Service in 1939 and provided some information about airfields as well as acting as a talent-spotter in Southern England. Plans were laid for her to report via Lisbon after the outbreak of war, but these were forestalled when she was required to leave the UK in May 1939
