Charles Patrick Kenneth James GILBERT: at the outbreak of the Second World War he was registered as a conscientious objector, but he was considered locally to hold Fascist views. He moved to the Channel Islands and, in 1940, on the German occupation he went to Germany, where he married a German in 1942. Except for a gap of 6 months in a concentration camp, he worked as a scriptwriter and broadcaster for 'Concordia' from December 1940 till the end of the war. In September 1946 he was sentenced to 9 months' imprisonment |
