Edward SZARKIEWICZ: Polish. He acted in a liaison capacity between the Polish authorities in London and the Security Service during the Second World War. He had considerable experience in the Middle East, including a period of service with Security Intelligence Middle East (SIME). He is alleged to have claimed on his deathbed that he was implicated in the death of General SIKORSKI by sabotaging his plane before it left Cairo on its way to Gibraltar. There is nothing on the file to lend credence to this story
