Description:

Documentation and correspondence relating to the education of Ugandan Asian refugees. Reports on a large number of reception camps and the efforts that were made to educate the refugees in the English language and the British way of life. There is a letter to Margaret Thatcher, the Secretary of State for Education, concerning a possible dispensation for the teachers among the refugees, to allow them to work in British schools without completing a PGCE or B Ed course. The scheme was not considered practical.
