Description:

John Wilson Croker. James Squires, Master Attendant at Bermuda yard, has applied for superannuation, feeling unable to discharge his duties due to frequent attacks of rheumatism. Are sending the necessary certificates and recommend favourable consideration. He is 56 years of age and has been employed in the Civil Department of the Navy upwards of 15 years, at a present salary of £400 p.a. His date on the list of Masters is January 1799. Propose that he receives half pay as a Master, in addition to the pension entitled to him for his civil duties. This was allowed to Mr Robb and Mr Parke and in several recent cases.
