Description:
Content: Folios 273-274. Letter from William Jones, Clerk to the Guardians of the Llanfyllin Union, to the Poor Law Board enclosing a copy of resolutions made at an extraordinary meeting of the guardians on 12 June after two guardians had asked them to consider whether Thomas Edwards, Medical Officer for Llansantffraid [Llansanffraid] should continue in office. A motion was proposed that Edwards should cease to be medical officer as he no longer resided in his district. An amendment was proposed that he should continue providing he kept an approved assistant living in his district. The amendment was carried. Annotation: referred to Mr Doyle [Andrew Doyle] who advises that, as Edwards will be only two miles away, he should be allowed to stay in office if he keeps an assistant and surgery at Llansantffraid as he proposes, attends three days a week and keeps all cases under his care. Copy letters should be sent to Edwards and to Mr Pritchard [Thomas Prichard]. The clerk should be reminded of a previous letter and an answer requested. Paper Number: 18015/1849. Poor Law Union Number 621. Counties: Montgomeryshire.
