Description:
Content: Folios 256-257. Letter from Thomas Edwards, Surgeon, Medical Officer for the Llansantffraid [Llansanffraid] District of the Llanfyllin Union, to the Poor Law Board. He has had to move to Llanfyllin, outside his district, but proposes to keep an assistant and surgery at Llansantffraid, to attend there three times a week and treat pauper patients himself. He points out that Mr Evans [David Evans] is medical officer for Llanrhaidr [Llanrhaeadr] but is allowed to live at Llanfyllin along with his assistant. He has served the Llanfyllin Union since its formation and is the oldest officer, and hopes he will be allowed to continue in office. Annotation: referred to Mr Doyle [Andrew Doyle] who recommends a copy be sent to the guardians for comment and the letter be acknowledged. Paper Number: 16122/1849. Poor Law Union Number 621.
