Description: |
Philip Stephens. We are to purchase large cutters and have sent Mr. Pollard, the Assistant Master Shipwright at Woolwich, to Dover and Folkestone to enquire after any for sale. He and Mr. Benjamin, the Naval Officer at Deal, inform us that the Charming Molly in Dover Pier, 15 months old and the Active, now on the stocks at Folkestone, and may be ready to launch in 10 or 12 days, have been offered them. We have asked the owners to come to town to treat with us. There are several others at sea and James Clark of Folkestone tendered them a cutter of 220 tons, which he sent for from Dunkirk, where she lay but received advice she was sold there. |
