Content: Folios 59-60. Letter from William Espin [Auditor], Mansfield, to the Poor Law Commission, enclosing a note from Richard Goulding, Clerk to the Magistrates, Mansfield and asking if the information in the note is correct and if he has to audit the accounts for the quarter just finished. The letter from Goulding regarding the following: He has received a letter from Mr Sculthorpe, Justice's Clerk, Nottingham stating that district auditors are not likely to be appointed at present. The normal notice will be issued to the overseers of the poor to verify their accounts. He quotes from a reply from the Poor Law Commission regarding overseers and auditors with regard to verifying accounts. Annotated: has any order for the appointment of district auditor been issued? Mansfield Union is part of Nottingham and Leicester, [Leicestershire], district, election now proceeding. The existing auditor to audit the accounts. Paper Number: 4362/B/1845.
