Letter from W E Goodacre, junior, Clerk to the Guardians of the Mansfield Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Commission, asking them to sanction out relief, as pursuant to article 6, of the general order of 21 December 1844 to an able-bodied man. Details: John Baggaley, widower, Mansfield, Brickmaker, out of work due to the frost. Wife died 10 days previously, and his children; [Amo Baggaley], Factory hand; Sarah Baggaley, Factory hand; Mary Baggaley, no work; Robert Baggaley; Harriett Baggaley; Thomas Baggaley; Hannah Baggaley; Henry Baggaley; Emma Baggaley; Ages and wages given. One week's relief given previously and cost of burial. Annotated: stating their sanction of out relief and two of the children to temporarily go to the workhouse. Paper Number: 4051/B/1845. Poor Law Union Number 337. Counties: Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.
