Description:
Content: Folios 53-54. Letter from W E Goodacre, junior, Clerk to the Guardians of the Mansfield Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Commission, regarding assisting Mary Vernon, from Warsop, from the poor rates, to emigrate to Vespra Lake Simcoe, [Ontario], West Canada to join her husband. He refers to the Commissioners letter reference 3049/B/1845, which was read to the board of guardians. He states that he erroneously stated that the husband was in New York, [United States of America]. The board [of guardians] think it is advantageous to assist Vernon as it is not the usual case of desertion. They ask the Commissioners to reconsider their previous decision.
