Content: Folio 80. Letter from William Powell, Clerk to the Guardians of the Newport Pagnell Poor Law Union, to Edwin Chadwick, Secretary to the Poor Law Commission, enclosing a copy of resolutions for consideration, stating that the relieving officers are not prepared in the manner suggested by the assistant poor law commissioner and that the peremptory directions of the Commissioners should be suspended until February next. Powell states that as soon as the relieving officers have completed their pauper description books the board intend to observe, conform and to carry into effect the rules and regulations of the Commission relating to the relief of the poor in the union.
