Content: Folio 729. Draft letter from the Poor Law Commission to William Ashton, Bulwell, Clerk to the Guardians of the Basford Poor Law Union, regarding the proposed allowance of beer to inmates the dietary order issued will sanction the allowance. Inmates are to be informed that the medical officer has ordered this on the grounds of health. If he certifies that the temporary change of diet be desirable the certificate is to reported to the Commissioners. Marginal Note: regarding any diet which will include beer to any pauper whom he may consider to require it. Paper Number: 13217/B/1842. Poor Law Union Number 334. Counties: Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.
