Content: Folio 409. Letter from William Ashton, Clerk to the Guardians of the Basford Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Commission, asking their approval for the following case in the parish of Lambley where the father is applying for clothes for his children 'who are nearly naked'. William Pownall, FWK [Framework knitter], widower, partially employed and his children, John Pownall, sells pipe clay, Charles Pownall, sells pipe clay, Hannah Pownall, William Pownall, Lucy Pownall, Olive Pownall, who is cripple. Annotated: some discussion in regard to the case. This is peculiar case with one child a cripple and the wife having been long ill. Sanction. Paper Number: 5789/B/1841. Poor Law Union Number 334. Counties: Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.
