Description:
Content: Folios 67-68. Letter from R M Hodge [Richard Michell Hodge], Clerk to the Guardians of the Truro Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Commission, in reply to their letter of 14 July 1847 and stating that the matter will be considered by the Board at a special meeting on 4 August 1847. It had escaped his observation that an excess of inmates in the union workhouses needed to be reported to the Commission, and he will take steps to prevent recurrence of similar irregularity. Annotated: acknowledge and request to be informed of the result of the special meeting on 4 August 1847. The Commission trusts that the guardians will resolve to erect a new workhouse.
