Content: Folios 88-89. Letter from Poor Law Commission to William Ashton, Clerk to the Guardians of the Basford Poor Law Union, regarding their approval of the Guardians response to their dietary circular where the diet should not be equivalent to the district Labourer's usual mode of living except that sanctioned by the Poor Law Act 160.62. They query the need for as many classes of paupers and have compiled a simpler dietary to keep Basford workhouse in line with other such Unions, which accompanies this letter [not included].
