Content: Folio 27. Reply from Poor Law Commission to Henry [Brentnall], Eastwood, to his letter of 22 September 1835 informing him that paying the Churchwarden's expenses out of the poor rate is illegal and will be disallowed in the overseer's accounts. The Board will be telling the overseers of the three parishes. Note at side of letter states that the letter from [Brentnall] is to be copied apart from the section about the Magistrates and [Brentnall's] name. Also says to inform the overseers of the townships that the practise is illegal and they will have monies disallowed if they continue. Letter from Poor Law Commission to the overseers of Heanor, Codnor and Loscoe and Shipley - all Derbyshire, dated 1 October 1835, telling them that their practise of paying the Churchwarden's expenses from the poor rate is illegal and if they continue the monies will be disallowed from their accounts. Above each overseer's address is a note saying copied sent. Annotated: copied [and sent]. Poor Law Union Number 334. Counties: Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.
