Description:
Content: Folio 71. Letter from Harry White, Clerk to the Guardians of the Blything Poor Law Union, Halesworth, to the Poor Law Commission, asking them to consider a difference of opinion between the board officers concerning out relief for the able bodied. The relieving officer for Kelsale has requested relief for Jonathan Eastaugh aged 68 and his wife aged 73. Eastaugh considers that he is able to work but can't find any and could support them both on 6s per week. The majority of board members consider that he is not able bodied on account of his age and therefore granted him one stone of flour a week. Paper Number: 1652/A/1839. Poor Law Union Number 432. Counties: Suffolk.
