Description:
Content: Folio 195. Draft letter from the Poor Law Board to Thomas N Firmin, Clerk to the Guardians of the Southampton Incorporation, acknowledging his letter, dated 16 September 1856, which forwarded a letter from the surveyor with new plans for the proposed boys' school that will be built onto the south side of the school premises belonging to the guardians. The board commends the way the guardians have followed the recommendations, communicated on 24 July 1856, and affixes the seal of approval. At the same time, the board states that the unnecessarily large lavatory should either be interchanged with a workroom or reduced in width to add space to the adjoining workroom. The plans and surveyor's letter [not included] are returned. A form of order for the consent of the guardians will be sent shortly. Paper Number: 35576/1856. Poor Law Union Number 407. Counties: Hampshire.
