Draft letter from the Poor Law Board to Thomas N Firmin, Clerk to the Guardians of the Southampton Incorporation, referring to his letter, dated 7 August 1856, that reported the guardians' intention, on the advice of [P Mackay] Medical Officer, to make a temporary alteration to sick paupers' diet no 2, substituting bacon for fresh meat. The board requests information about the quantities of bacon that each pauper will be allowed at each meal. Paper Number: 31979/1856. Poor Law Union Number 407. Counties: Hampshire.
