Description:
Content: Folios 56-58. Letter from Harry White, Clerk to the Guardians of the Blything Poor Law Union, to Edwin Chadwick, Secretary to the Poor Law Commission, forwarding a petition from the churchwardens and overseers of Bramfield addressed to the board of guardians, Bulcamp Workhouse, concerning parish property. The petition is for their consent to transfer the ownership of a cottage and two acres situated next to a property owned by Paul Tatlock. It was rented out in 1748 but it could be recovered for use of patients with smallpox. The present occupant will leave at Michaelmas and as the property is copyhold, a future expense would be avoided. Signed: Robert Appleton and Henry Wright, Churchwardens; and Joseph Fieldshank and Stephen Hadingham, Overseers. Annotation: acknowledge and decline their sanction on the grounds that the property is copyhold. Paper Number: 5437/A/1837. Poor Law Union Number 432. Counties: Suffolk.
