Folio 166. Letter from John Kirkland, Clerk to the Guardians of the Southwell Union, to the Local Government Board requesting they approve the allowance of £2 10s 0d for clothing for Frank Rawson, aged 13, of Winkburn, recently an inmate of the workhouse and bound as an apprentice to George Towers of Bulcote, confectioner. The boy is illegitimate and an orphan, his mother having died over ten years ago. Annotated to state that if the apprenticeship has been conducted in accordance with the regulations on the subject, the assent of the Board is not required for the allowance of clothing. |
