Description:
Content: Folio 423. Letter from H Saunders [Henry Saunders], Clerk to the Guardians of the Kidderminster Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Commission. Edward Craddock states that he did not write to the Poor Law Commissioners or authorise anyone to do so. It has been reported that his wife was offered help in carrying water, this he states is also untrue. Craddock applied for relief 12 months ago. This was refused, but a medical note was given. The refusal was on the grounds that he had a fat pig and had sold manure for 31s. He also receives 1s 6d per week from a lodger; this pays his rent. Annotated: acknowledge. Paper number: 9740/B/1842. See also Paper number: 2775/B/1842. Poor Law Union Number 530. Counties: Worcestershire, Staffordshire and Shropshire.
