Notes: Report on a fatal accident that occurred on 27 January 1877 between Standish Junction and Gloucester, to a platelayer, (James Mann) who was run over by an engine and brake van. A second platelayer was seriously injured. Includes a map of where the accident occurred. Allegations made by witnesses that racing between Great Western and Midland trains was commonplace on this line.
