Description: |
Philip Stephens. Samuel Clarke and Susanna Young, owners of the Bonetta sloop, which was sent to Newfoundland with a cargo of goods on the fishing account, was taken in and employed during the whole fishing season, which has caused them to lose money. Gregory Olive has attended on their behalf and we have decided that £800 would be sufficient re recompense them as it appears from the memorial from Captain Douglas, who impressed the sloop, and Captain Graves, who employed her, that she was detained from June to September 1762 and was useful. She was lost after she was discharged and the owners claim their plan of trade was defeated, so opine they should be paid in full for their losses. Mr. Olive has agreed to accept our offer and if we are directed to pay that sum it is proper they should accompany it with vouchers for the bill |
