Folios 1-2. Letter to William Huskisson, Superintendent, Alien Office, from Joseph Stewart, Secretary to the Commissioners for the Care of Sick and Wounded Seamen and of Prisoners of War, stating that the Commissioners had written to Mr Stephens, Secretary to the Admiralty, in December 1793 regarding the wish of a French émigré priest to officiate at Forton prison [Hampshire], but had not received a reply. Furthermore, now that Monsieur D'Alais had been released from parole, the Board could not, without a specific order, send him to Guernsey in a vessel for the carriage of prisoners. |
