Report of Robert Dallas on Edmund Bawley convicted (with George Falconer) at the 'last' Sussex Quarter Sessions[?] held at Horsham, for raping Sarah Phillips (spinster, 14 years), servant to Mr Atree, on 9 February at Aldrington, Sussex. Evidences supplied by Sarah Philips, Reverend Prosser, James Mickford and Harry Blaker, surgeon of Brighton. Initial sentence: death: Grounds for clemency youth (15 years) and led into the crime by Falconer. Recommendation: mercy. Annotated: 'Edmund Bawley to be respited' and 'Edmund Bawley to be transported for life': Folios 47-55.
