Date: 1953-1959
History: Created in 1953 by the merger of the two former ministries (Ministry of Civil Aviation; and the Ministry of Transport) which aimed to associate civil aviation with the older forms of transport. When, in October 1959, civil aviation functions were transferred to the Ministry of Supply on its reorganisation as the Ministry of Aviation, the department again reverted to the title of Ministry of Transport.
