France: River Charente. 'Plan de la Riviere de Charente de puis le port de Rochefort jusqu'à son embouchure ...': map of the area between Île d'Aix and Rochefort, showing named towns and villages, woodland, fortifications, waterways, and soundings in French feet. Title in a round cartouche suspended from a ribbon. Scale: 1 inch to about 188 toises. Produced on the orders of M D'Aubenton, Intendant de la Marine; surveyed by M Digard de Kergüette, Engineer; drawn by Penevert. The draughtsman's pencilled grid is still visible beneath the ink of the map.
