Title: Board of Inland Revenue: Tithe Redemption Office: Corn Rents Index
Description:

This series contains an index from the Tithe Redemption Office to the corn rent.

Where the Corn Rent index contains details of a corn rent, it usually gives details of the Enclosure Act by which the corn rent was created, the amount of corn rent, owners, apportionment, etc. It also indicates where the relevant documents were deposited; but will not establish whether a corn rent, otherwise payable in perpetuity, has been redeemed. The most reliable source of information regarding the continued existence of corn rents may well be the landowner or the corn rent owner.

Date: 1960
Arrangement:

Volumes arranged by county.

Related material:

The original instruments creating corn rents were not deposited with the Tithe Commissioners and were usually Awards under local Enclosure Acts, which were deposited with the custodians prescribed by each Act.
