Title: | Government Code and Cypher School: Second World War Intelligence Summaries Based on Sigint |
Description: |
This material is the result of intelligence assessments by the different Intelligence organisations (eg Bletchley Park, and Military, Naval and Air Force Intelligence Services), of German signals, messages and reports intercepted and processed by the SIGINT organisation. It is a compilation of collections of documents held in various officers' files and ranges from volumes bound in hard covers during the war and in the immediate post-war period, to loose files. Because of the variety of records from which they come there is some duplication between pieces: eg items JQ/S1-14 are in piece 1, while copies of JQ/S1 and JQ/S10-13 are in piece 2; similarly items from the AI/JQ series which is quoted in toto in piece 1, are repeated in piece 2. Again, because of the diversity of sources, some of the series may be incomplete. The wide variety of series references reflects the eclectic nature of the subjects researched. A Glossary of some of the German military terms and contractions in wartime signals (and not always translated at that time) is available. |
