Description:

Report of John William Rose, Recorder of London, on 1 collective petition (11 people, from London) on behalf of Robert Jones, convicted at the Old Bailey in February 1792, for stealing 1 pair of silk stockings. The prisoner requests in his petition, and a covering letter, that his wife be permitted to travel with him when transported. Initial sentence: 7 years transportation. Recommendation: that his wife should be permitted to sail with him to Botany Bay. Folios 151-156. See also HO 47/15/30, folio 146.
